I would like to Get a New processor and was wondering if this one would work Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 Wolfdale 3.06GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor would like to make sure before ordering. Thanks My old one and the new one are both the 1066fsb also.

So could i get a Quad Core? I have 1066 MHZ now would 1333MHz still work? or have to be 1066 MHZ because all Quad Core i see are 1333MHZ

yeah FSB is relative to the CPU not the motherboard... you *may* have up update you BIOS... it isnt as dangerous as it used to be so dont worry. just type in your service tag at the dell support site and check out the revisions to your bios and see if it adds any processor support..

Thanks i did that there was an update all it said for Enhancements was * Supported OCUR

You may want to dig a little deeper...the processors are different. One is 65nm and one is 45nm. Not all LGA 775 motherboards will support all LGA 775 processors.

The real question is...Will the BIOS files that your computer uses support a 45nm or a Quad core?

My daughters Dell uses LGA 775 Pentium 840 @ 3.2GHz. That processor will work in my motherboard...I've tried it:D But...my Q9300 Quad will not work in her Dell motherboard.

Off the top of my head I would say no. Don't buy anything yet. I highly doubt Dell has a BIOS file to support 45nm or Quad cores on that Dell Demension motherboard.

Go to the Dell forum and start asking questions...I got tons of information about my daughter's computer from there...very nice and helpful people;)

ok thanks would like to know for sure. Mine now is the 65 nm and the ones i am looking at is 45nm anyone know if the new processor will still work?
