Will This RAM boost my system performance?

2048Megabytes

Someone gave me an old Laptop with a 1 gigahertz processor in it. It has 256 megabytes of PC 100 RAM in it currently. I was looking at maxing out the RAM at 512 megabytes with PC 133 RAM for about $15.

Will this RAM boost give the notebook a noticable boost in processing power? I know it has a 1 gigahertz processor so I am not expecting it to give the performance that a dual-core processor would be able to give. Bottomline: is the upgrade worth it?

What are the specs of the computer?

Maybe the motherboard won't be able to run more than 256MB of RAM...

likely it wont boost the performance by much. i wouldnt look for good performance in a laptop that has a processor at 1ghz. then again, that could just be its current clock.. plug it into the wall, reboot it, and then tell us how fast it runs.

I'd double check and make sure you can use PC 133 memory with the laptop. I have a old laptop, and it had PC 100 memory in it. I bought a PC 133 chip for it, and it wouldn't work with it.

The model of notebook is a "Toshiba 1805-S204". PC 133 RAM in 256 megabyte modules will work in this computer won't it?
