Will this system run a Blu-Ray drive without skipping?

I'm mostly concerned about the CPU. I know the Phenom is more powerful, but my budget doesn't allow for it. I've seen a Gateway with BD drive and the Athlon x4, but I've read that some less powerful machines may still cause the picture quality to digitize, etc. I could upgrade to Intel's i3, but I was attracted to the Athlon's quad core as I'll be using the PC for other tasks than just HD movies.

yes, it will do it fine, your CPU and the rest of the system is plenty enough to burn/read blu ray media

Let me know how it works! I'm curious because in the past, I've had so many problems with clients and their blu-ray drive computers, where it'll start playing, but then stop - it got to the point where it wasn't correct blu-ray decoding software, hardware compatibility, etc. that I simply told that I wasn't going to invest in one.

If you're going to watch Blu-rays with Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre you should be just fine as it can use your GPU, which should be more than enough.

Well I finally tried it out. The rig in my signature [see below] has played Blu-ray movies for a month just fine. I've had a few skips, but I think it was the discs. My monitor is only 1024, not 1080, but I assume my system would do just as well with a 1080 monitor. Furthermore, my motherboard is able to play Blu-ray movies by itself without the video card. The mobo GPU is HD 4250.
