ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 256MB DDR2 PCI Express (PCIe) DVI/VGA Video Card w/TV-Out - FS-X1650-PCIE-256

The above card is advertised by a big on-line retailer. I recently got a refurbished HP desktop. It came with Vista Home Premium (64 Bit). It is a Pentium Dual Core CPU ([email protected] GHz).

I checked with HP and there is a PCI Express slot available. I mainly want to just add a second monitor two facilitate multi-tasking. Not much of a gamer.

Will this card be sufficient? Is is advertised for $24.

Well, this process is really more complicated than I expected. I really appreciate the quick and well informed replies. Can you suggest any other possible ways to have two monitors without upgrading power supply, etc? Is there a possibility I could just add second video card (in addition to the one that came with the CPU)? I really don't need gaming type graphics, just wanted to be able to span two monitors with spreadsheets, etc.

Thanks again for the positive and knowledgeable replies.

you know harris, at my old work I had one outlet for my video card but had a cable split into two that worked for two monitors... Id have to figure out how that worked but im sure there is a way

You know, my first thought was a Y adapter cable, but, somewhere along the way, I was told that all that would accomplish was the same image on both monitors. If VISTA will recognize a second monitor attached to the same video card and let me set up the DUAL monitor arrangement I would be happy.
