Will this work as a server?

Last night I pieced together a couple computers from parts and after giving one to the kids I have this one left and want to know if it will make a decent home file server.

Hoping this will work for a Home File Server

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU
[email protected] GHz
2.41 GHz 3.25 GB Ram
Asus Formula Maximus II Motherboard with Dual 10/100/1000Mbps LAN

Its got a fresh install of Windows XP but have not problem getting rid of the OS, may actually get rid of that HD all together.

My plans are installing 4 2 TB Drives and running them in Raid.
 
For running a simple file server this will be more than sufficient. Overkill actually. Windows xp will do just fine as a file server. Although pro would be advised.

No other plans to use the server for? Downloading stuff maybe?
 
yes it will I know this because this is like 10 times better than my file server and mine runs just like I was hoping it would.
 
Definitely overkill lol. Ever thought of using WHS instead of XP as the OS? I figure it would be better.
 
Wow, that's way more than you need for a file server. For a while, I had an old Athlon XP 3000+ serving my files and that was still way more than I ever could need.
