Will this work?

Hey everyone,

I do not know much about video cards and need some help.
I want to play a pc game with these requirements:

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

* Windows XP (32-bit) with Admin rights
* 1.7 GHz Intel Celeron D / Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/ Sempron or greater
* 512 MB of RAM or more
* 8x or faster CD/DVD drive
* 2.3 GB free hard drive space or more
* Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (see video)
* Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible (Sound Blaster X-Fi series recommended )

VIDEO
Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:

* NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
* ATI Radeon 8500 or greater

Regarding the video, will a NVIDIA GeForce 7500LE work? or does it have to be an FX? im not sure how you tell which graphics card is greater and how everything will work out and if anyone can advise me if NVIDIA GeForce 7500LE will play the latest games?

Any help/advise will be greatly appreciated.

The 7500LE is a bit of an old 128mb AGP card where it will depend more on how new the game is along with the rest of your hardware. The requirements for the game itself only point a need for a DX 9c capable display adapter. The demands on graphics will make the difference as to whether that card will meet the minimum there. A good number of the newer games would place too much demand on the older 256mb card there.

Yes, a GeForce 7500LE should meet the graphics requirements just fine for any 5700 software... (The FX was dropped after the 5xxx series and the 6xxx series and up began to be produced; although sometimes you will see those with the FX, just remember that FX6xxx is actually incorrect...)

Agreed... Double check it's not a Radeon 7500. On GPU reiview, they don't have all video cards posted there, but they don't show anything but Radeon 7500's. No Geforce cards with that model.

thanx for all the help. I have checked it again, no it is "256MB NVIDIA GeForce 7500LE, TV-Out, DVI, VGA" offered by HP when you customize a PC. I just want a good card that will play the latest games. Any suggestions where I can get a customized PC for playing games under $1000? or any recommended graphics card?

I might have missed it but, what pc game?

I'm a bit confused... are you purchasing this pc or already own it? You ask

So I assume your getting ready to purchase one. I have never bought a customized PC (that I did not build) so I'm sure others could recommend a better place then what I could pick. As for recommending a video card... Well lets figure out what PC your going to put it in first.

I'm going to make a judgment call and move this thread to Desktop computers for you.

Do a Google search, I believe those chips came out in June, along with the 7300 and 7600... Let me do the search once more...

*EDIT* Yup, here's one article at least...: http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=articles&go=read&arc_id=99

There are also many other references to the GeForce 7500LE, which is much more powerful than the Radeon 7500... :)

With an MSI GeForce FX5200 128mb Half Life 2 ran here without problems on the old case before running the ATI 9550 256mb card. The system specifications there will show just how far you can already go. The current system here passed on every game at the link there. But that is with a set of newer hardwares.
