Will Vista run well in this system?

Pentium 4 @ 3.0 GHz
2gb ram @ DDR 400 ( 2 x this )
160 HDD ATA
7600 GT

Its an older system that I recently added the HDD and ram to, hoping it can perform top notch.... obviously no 8800 gt or anything to make use of DX 10 (as of yet :-D).... but will everything else run smooth?

I don't want to test Vista on my main system (in my sig)
 
fo sho, ya dont worry, just worry about the drivers for the GPU

and newer GPU would run newer games, but there isnt much DX10 games out

yes it will run, and yet you call that old system, i'd called mine extremely old then !!!

Both the CPU and video card are holding it back from the newer games. You dont need a DX10 compatible card yet, but if you're going to upgrade, you might as well get it.
 
Vista runs perfectly on my work machine!

Dell dimension 8200
3.0ghz Pentium 4 800mhz fsb
320GB Harddrive ATA
2GB Ram DDR400
Geforce FX5200 128M

Games run like crap on vista, I had problems running doom 1 and 2 lol!

hey i looked at ur system specs, so ur videocard runs fine right? i have an xfx5200 256 mb, i was thinking of using this spare card for my bros system, do u have ne problems ?

DUH!! Those games are how old? Company of Heroes, BF2142, B&W2, and AoEIII, they run perfect on Vista. Get out of the ancient ages...
