Win 7 doesn't like to update

Periodically, i get notifications that I need updates installed. but they only go so far and then stop and say "failed" update cannot be installed. I go to the link pertaining to the Code for that update and it says it is usually because I have a virus or malware of some kind. I do a deep scan and there is nothing. If you look at the history it shows many days where the update failed to install and there is no way to get it to install manually. I think it is a problem with Explorer 10 but I can't find anywhere to uninstall it and re-install it. It is not in the list of programs to uninstall.

Now, I can't even access my regular old programs I use all the time such as Adobe Photo Deluxe. Nothing happens when I click on the icons to open the program. Other programs are opening but something is preventing some of the program to perform. ANybody got any ideas?

What specific update are you having issues with?

Try going into msconfig, disable windows update, restart then go back into msconfig and re-enable windows update.
