win 7 help

I have a Desktop that I made and I have all the drivers for the Motherboard and Video and Audio and a AMD Athlone 64 Bit.

And I have bean useing win xp pro.

Now I am geting a Laptop with win 7 Home Prem.

When I get this Laptop if I go into Controle Pannale and then Make Recovery CDs I can make Win 7 recovery CDs.

Can I not take this CDs and Load it on my Desktop I made?

I know you will tell me
It Will Make Recovery CDs with the Drivers for the Laptop so you can not use it for anything but the Laptop.

But if I go into controle pannale and have win make them is it not just going to make the win 7. CDs without the Laptop drivers?

Or is this not how it works?

It will not work.

It will come with a single-computer or oem license, so driver issues are beside the point.

thanks but

Well if the Laptop ever goes down I will have to re install it again and re enter the oem license.

So if I put the oem license on my desktop and enter the oem license why would it not work?

The oem licenses are typically validated by a manufacturer specific motherboard bios.

Sometimes even as specific as individual models or production runs.

Similar to the way apple attempts to prevent people from installing mac os on non-apple computers.

You can't use an operating system from one computer and put it on another one with the same license. You will have an OEM license and it will be limited to the original machine its installed on. If you want windows 7 on your desktop then you will need to buy it.

Besides, when you make recovery cd's, and you try to boot to them on a different machine, they won't install because it will detect a different motherboard.

Yeah, your pretty much locked down with a branded OEM OS. System Builders OEM are alot more, what would be a good word. Maneuverability! But still only one computer at a time.
