win 7. install help

I have win xp pro and I have two internale secondary Hard Drives and they are Both formatted with NTFS.

And they Both have Data on them Videos Audios Photos Graphics Animation Files HTML Files I make everything.

Now I want to Get and instal win 7. Altamit and I want to know this?
When I go to install win 7 sould I Un Plug the two secondary Hard Drives SATA Data Cable from the Motherboard first?

Then after win 7 is installed turn off the system and plug back in the two secondary hard drives.

Then wen I turn the system back on win 7. will see the Data I have on them and not say these drives must be formmated????
 
Are you planning on installing over your XP installation or running a dual-boot setup?

You really do not need to unplug your data drives. Just make sure you choose the right one (your OS drive with XP on it) for the install, provided you do not want to dual-boot. If you are afraid of making the wrong choice and overwriting one of your data drives, unplugging those two will not hurt. They will both be accessible by the new Windows 7 install when you re-connect them.

No it will be a clean install of win 7. over the win xp win xp will be no more.

I ask because wen I had win xp win 98 I had IDE hard drives as secondary ones and wen I did a format all would be ok but my secondary hard drives would never work untill I format them and this isa why I ask
 
You should be fine upgrading your OS. The data drives should mount and show up in Windows 7 just as you see them now.

So if all my other drives had Data on them shoud I unplug them untill win 7. is all installed and setup and then plug them in??

Will they bee seen and not ask me to for mat theym
 
You should not have to disconnect them. Though, if you do, they should come right up in the OS once Win7 is installed. The only time they would need to be reformatted is if they got corrupted somehow. If that is the case, you have issues elsewhere than with the OS.

You aren't running a RAID array at all are you?
 
I dont know about your two other drives, I would like to though. As far as installing W7 over your existing system if you select custom you can wipe the old stuff away, if not you will create a partition. When you go custom you will remove all of your old data from the HDD you are using.
