win 98 hard drive

well here is the problem, I have a primary hard drive and a secondary one. I am giving the secondary one to my mate for his pc to use as a primary hard drive but I am having trouble putting win. xp on it because the master that i am using already has xp and is telling me that it can't put xp on an xp machine.(also the xp disk i am using can't be booted from.

Well, it sounds as if this is talk of piracy, which is not allowed in ComputerForum. Either you can clear this up and have a good explination of why this is legal, or you can wait for a moderator to lock this thread.

for xp anyways not sure about 98 since it doesnt have activations.
