Win Me Cursor NOT showing upon startup

Im trying to fix my grandfathers old computer (He bought a new one) and my cousin has been using it for months, It does have a ethernet card and is connected to the internet. Well the cursor won't show up and it says "Kb891711 has caused and error and closed" And then another shows "Qtask had cause an error in Kernal and needs to close." How will I fix this?

System Specs:
O/S: Windows Me
Ram: 128.0MB
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4
HDD: 19.0 GB

Additional Info:
I would like to upgrade it to Win 2000 Pro soon, Is that possible? Or would it have to be upgraded to XP?

Wow, Windows ME? Really? Man try to get a copy of 2000 or 98se and go with that.

Microsoft put a halt to all support of Windows Millennium Edition in July, 2006. Microsoft is putting a halt to all support of Windows 2000 Professional Edition this month. what this means is that any sorts of vulnerabilities that haven't been fixed (worms, viruses, etc.) will never be looked at by Microsoft.

Stay away from Windows ME and Windows 2000. Instead, try to upgrade your RAM to either 256 or 512 MB and go for Windows XP for the time being, which is still support by Microsoft by monthly patches.

Computers built for Windows ME and Windows 98 will be painfully slow when it upgrade to Windows XP even you upgrade the ram too. I have 2 Pentium 300-400 mhz that I upgraded to windows XP. It have to wait for the pages to upload forever. doesn't worth the effort.
I still have few computers using win98 and ME, but they are using old legacy software, they are still working fine.

Great point. The slowest computer I've ever used with XP was a PIII 800 MHz, which certainly was no rocket, but it got the job done ok. I didn't know that a PII 3-400ish MHz is too slow for XP.


EDIT: It looks like the slowest P4 listed on Wikipedia is around 1.3 GHz, so the OP could be ok with XP.
