win player help

I have win media player 11 and I remember last time I had it it never could play my DVDs.

I know I can get a codec [pack from microsoft website but it is good for 30 Days. Then you have to pay for it.

Is there a free codec pack I can get and just install to get win media player 11. to play DVDs??????

ah, it will play DVD's. thats whats it is designed for. no codek will solve that. what are you trying to do exactly. WMP11 would not play Blu rays if you are trying to do that, neither it will play HD DVD, and no free software will do it either.
tell me what pack did you download from microsoft.
the codek pack is called k-lite pack http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_full.htm
but it would not help you to play DVD's. Do you get an error message. do tell

thanks but

I am trying to play DVDs I got at a store. They put Buck Rogers on DVD. I have Windows Media Player 11. and it tells me this.?

windows media player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

And it just has an OK Tab no other Tab???????????????????

Wow see this first time. like really. oh well,
have you tried installing the klite pack, install the media player there and try playing the DVD with it. if that does not work, download a trial of powerdvd. is the drive on laptop or big pc. tell me model, or if CD came with it try installing the drivers, might work..

thanks but

I tryed K Lite pack and it tells me at the end of installation

Can not creat registry key Code 5. and stops.

I read on the net DivX Free will help play DVDs? Why iss DivX a codec or player? I want to use WMP 11???

thanks but

I got DiVx and it did not help or play DVDs.

The only one that ever did for me was VLC.
The only think I did not like about it was all thoso settings and things I did not know what they are for.
