win xp desktop - sata won't start-HELP

..yeah...now i have to see about another SIMPLE imaging program that i can copy old sata to dvd-rw's and then to new sata hd...any ideas anyone?

There are lots of programs that use Windows' Volume Shadow Service to create an image while the drive is running and actively being used. DriveImage XML is an example.

I assume you mean driveimage xml? No it runs from windows or from any windows preinstallation environment. You can backup/restore drives while windows is running.

If you found some program called xlm, I don't know what that is. I might be able to tell you if you need to run it from a floppy or CD if you give me a link to their website.

i found nothing under that name to include the "XML" part you previously mentioned..nothing that is freeware at any rate....i used ghost once and found it sucked to the 10th power in that i had to keep switching discs in and out for most of the afternoon...ugh!

...just checked out the program..it bites in that, when i attempted to back up c drive to dvd, i received message that image would not fit on disc, even at what they call "max compression"....
