Hi,

I formatted Windows 7 on 'HP Pavilion dv6t-1300 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC'. I installed Window XP 32-bit successfully. I have hard time installing drivers for Win 32-bit. Appreciate your help.

Finding drivers for an unsupported OS is a big pain. I've done it a couple of times, and there are a couple different ways to find the drivers. One would be looking at the specific piece of hardware that you need a driver for and searching on the manufacture's website as well as other driver database sites. Another method that I've tried is finding similar models that support XP or models that share certain hardware components and using those drivers. Basically, it's going to be a lot of searching and trial and error, there isn't any easy way to go about it, and it's possible that you made need a driver that doesn't even exist for XP.

You can try searching the class (DV6) for drivers vice the specific model number. However, the DV6 class, as far as I know , was never sold with XP loaded on.

You could also try looking up that model in the HP PartSurfer and see what other machines used the same components (motherboard, wireless card, etc.) and see if you can find drivers that way.

Put all your drivers into a folder and on a thumbdrive or something so they will be accessible when you install XP (or slipstream them into a new XP disc).

I'm curious: do you not like Win 7? I thought everyone considered it the awesomeness (especially compared to Vista).
