win2000 on Dell pc

Hi Guys. Here is my problem. I'm trying to install a win2000 on Dell pc. I'm using Microsoft Windows 2000 cd on Dell machine. Is that why it will not install ? All i want is to install win2000 on a Dell pc, but I think I don't have the right cd / program. ?

it's from a different computer, but i have tha product key iwth it. I tried to install it on my own pc, and it worked fine. So, don't know why not Dell.

yes, it's a boot cd. it gives me msg.: opperating system not found
 
well, i have installed the win2000 on my pc, and then I put the HD back to Dell hopind it would work, but it's not founding anything

Yes it does, since if it came with a Compaq it most likely wont work with a Dell.

It doesn't matter what type of computer you install it on if you do it legally....:rolleyes: You can't use a backup disk from another computer.
