im trying to reboot my computer and get a fresh start. everything goes fine untill i get to a black screen that has a blinking at the top left of the screen. there is supposed to be a message that comes up that says "click any button to continue". i dont see this message and im not sure if it doesn load or if im doing something wrong.

does anyone know of a way to solve this or a way to maybe get around this?

Restart your computer Safe Mode, by pressing F8 before Windows starts (More info HERE)

Then once logged in go to My Computer
Right click on C drive > Properties > Tools > Check Now
Select the top box "Automatically fix errors..."
Select Start button > Yes > Restart
Wait for CheckDisk to scan and fix any errors
Hopefully Normal Mode then loads ;)

If you cannot get to Safe Mode, you can also run CheckDisk from the XP CD Recovery Console
Boot from your XP CD
Select the first "R" prompt
log into your Administrator account (which is "1" then "Enter")
On the command line type: CHKDSK /R (note: 1 space after CHKDSK)
Press enter key, and allow the scan (and Fix) to complete
Type Exit, and restart to Normal Mode (note: take the Windows CD out)
Hopefully Normal Mode then loads ;)

i was doing the check now thing. and it said that it was unable to scan. im not sure what was wrong but it didnt work.
