Here's the lowdown.
Windows XP Home: Designed for Home use (obviously) with limited networking features, not designed to be connected to a server. (But is possible)
Windows XP Pro: Designed for buisness and workplace has very complex networking features including user roles and advanced administration tools. Will netowrk very easily, and is compatiable witha server.
Windows XP MCE: (My personal favourite) Windows XP Pro with many media enhancements. What is very cool about it is that it comes with extra themes that look really cool and customizable. It is compatiable with Networking and servers. Comes with a program called Media Centre which is really cool. (Ill leave you to figure out that for yourself.)
*Note: Some programs can clash with MCE. There are probally more, but the only program that I have found that clashes with it is NERO 6.
When you start NERO 6 it comes up with a message saying something about this version of NERO has known collisions with this verion of windows, there maybe an update on the NERO website to make compatiable. But I haven't found anything.
Media Centre (the program) comes with it's own burning utilies.
Basically it is up to you to choose which suites you best, and how much you can afford etc.
