Hello, Windows 10 does not give me choice to select path to my application that i want to be default for some kind of extension or protocol.

I have portable application and i cant select it and do not wish to use WindowsStore. Please is there any hack so i can choose path to my .exe that should be used? In this case it is FirefoxPortable for HTTP and HTTPs. And IrfanView for all images.

I don't think you can choose anything portable to be a default app. The reason being is that windows would have to have information about the program. However, try going into default programs and choose the file extension that want to change and click on change program, then browse to the program on your usb flash drive or wherever its stored and see if it will work that way. I want to say no, but it might.

Using your of a .html file, right click on the html file, click properties, on the General tab under Opens with: click Change… Now browse to your portable executable program and click OK. Now whenever you open a pdf file, it will open with that program. Works with XP/7/8, never tried with 10.
