Couple months ago i was going to clean install but had issues. wanted to burn
to dvd. Im using windows 7 Pro 64 bit. In a directory on a slave drive i have
a directory that says windows 10 and inside is a iso file, 5,824,896 kb.
Can i burn to dvd. seems big also. and forgot how to burn iso to dvd.
Guessing i have to extract some how.
thanks

Thats the wrong size. Windows 10 iso is only 3,417,856 kb. Windows 7 and above already have the ability to burn iso built in. All you do is open the iso and windows disc image burner pops up.

The size of a Windows 10 ISO depends on the version, x64 or 86, and what build number it's based off of.

X86 would be smaller. And the size of the ISO would have to be smaller then the size of a single layer dvd.

its deleted now. and will get into this later again.
if i use the media creation tool do i just run from the slave drive
and it will back up to the slave drive or dvd then. honestly
i don't know what that iso was about. and i thought thats what i used.
its gone now.

You can save the iso where ever you want. All you do is double click the iso and windows disc image burner will start, click on burn and it will burn the install dvd.

Edit... What you actually downloaded was both the 32bit and 64bit versions in one iso. I just did the same thing and it came out to be 5,753,088 kb. What you need to do is just download the correct version of what you already have. If you have 64bit windows 7 then just download the 64bit version of 10.

Ok. BUT thats what i thought i did. Oh well.
i'll let ya know how it goes. Im not looking forward
to moving to windows 10 but know it will have to be
done. thanks............

Windows 8.1 support's good until like 2023, you have some time ;)
I believe 7 ends in 2020

Ok. i had windows 10 pro burned to disc. it asked me if i wanted to install.
I have the key written down and on the side of the tower and says
This product key didn't work. Checked it 10 times. Ran another utility
to find key. tried that and same thing. this key didn't work.
Other concern i was wondering even if it did will i have to option to full
install. Not interested in a upgrade. want a wipe with windows 10.
Like said the key is not working.
thanks

have windows 7 pro 64 bit. but won't accept the key. My windows 7 works fine also.
Im guessing your thinking i still downloaded the wrong one.

So you are trying to install windows 10 on a pc that still has 7 on it? And the windows 7 install still works? Then you didn't wipe the drive during install. Are you booting to the dvd?

Yes. im downloading again. and wondering about choosing. had to choose option US, windows 10, windows 10N. what was that choice. 10N

Ok....... Used the creation tool again and worked. Dont have a clue what went wrong. Its
installing now. My question is now is if my SSD drive breaks down 2 yrs from now will i
be able to reinstall with the creation tool again.
Also might make sense to install windows 10 then take all updates then backup windows.
What would be the procedure for that.

thanks

Yes you can reinstall using the media creation tool. However, you already have the install dvd, just keep it in a safe place.

Just find some free backup and restore image software. Acronis true image will cost but it's a good program.

alright thanks john. I can see 10 will take some getting used too.
Ive heard other here talk about something you can do with windows 10
to make it look like windows 7. Anybody know what it was?
