need xp setup

I need to reload XP in my computer, but I can't find my cd. Is there some where I can download it? I still have my key.
 
I got a "new to me" used computer with windows 2000 on it. It sucks!!!! I can't play any of my realarcade games ormy fate game. The RA games are amazingly slow and fate doesn't even play. Is there something I can do? I want to just load xp, but I can't find my disk. (all ready posted about that issue.)
Oh, and this computer has xp on another partion but the winsock are corropted or missing.
I can't afford to buy anything. But I'm good at following directions if you have any ideas.
 
Well, aside from the standard Virus/Spyware scanning, Defrag, and then possibly adding more memory if it's still slow, it's possible that the computer just needs a fresh install of your OS of choice. Windows is notorious for getting 'bogged down'; it just happens. Available Hard Drive space could be a factor as well.
 
Where was the computer originally purchased? Did you receive a CD with the purchase? If purchased on-line (Dell, HP, etc.) and you have the Service tag or Production number, you may be able to call their support line and have them ship you one. Could be a fee, but it all depends on a few factors.
 
I was thinking of adding ram, but the tower is so tiny I can barly see the it let alone remove it and change it. So that is a last resort. I'm hoping to find an XP CD to just redo the whole thing.
 
Well, the way some components are laid out, you may have to disconnect a few wires or move a video card, but it should be relatively easy to add another stick if it comes to it.
 
Then you would need the CD :( If I may ask, why did you leave Linux? Have you considered giving it another try?
