Windows 2K Server workgroup.

I am running many computers on a network with a windows 2k server sp4 on the workgroup, they do not use active directory, they are all independant, but i was wondering, is it possible to get rid of the log in prompt when i try to connect to the win2k server thru other pcs, i need it off so i can run hardware thru it. all the other pcs require no input to file share but i need to type "administrator" each time (i do not have an admin password as i did not want to set one up.)

my parents do not need the confusion of this each time they want to use a printer on the win2kserver for example from another pc. Is there a regedit command or somthing in control panel?

Many thanks.

i'm not sure i understand what you're trying to do, but here's what i think.

for other PCs on your network to access resources on the server without AD, you need to re-create each user account on the server. their passwords have to match the same as what they have on their personal machines.

you can then set up permissions to shares and resources on the server based on user accounts.

for example, i have username zombine on both my laptop and file server with same password. so when i try to access my shared folder, the server won't ask me for my credentials.

hope that helps. if not, good luck.

^^ That's not officially supported but will work. Your user accounts will require a password.

Other thing you can try is to completely open up your shares. Complete access for everyone.
