Hi, ive just built a new pc with w/7 on a ssd as main drive and everythings going great, amased at the boot times i have, any way i thought a 120 gb ssd isnt going to last long in terms of storage so i got a 500gb hard drive as well, now ive plugged it in and booted up, the bios see`s it but in "my computer" its not registered ive tried add a device but it see`s nothing
im new to w/7 so am i missing something here?
oh and the board is gigabyte z77ds3

Is it recognised in Disk Management?

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> select Disk Management on the left.

Is your HDD shown in there?

Have you tried another SATA port on your motherboard and ensured that both the power and data cables are plugged firmly into your drive and that your SATA cable is plugged firmly into your motherboard?

Just check the obvious first. Cables may have been dislodged. :)

Sorry jjust seem to get the normal usage in control panel
there`s nothing there about admin
yes another drive i want to fit as well
same result

The drive won't be recognized in windows until you format it.

Right click on computer, click on manage, click on disk management on left. right click on the drive in question and click on format/new volume or similar.

Hi guys, thanks for the advice all sorted now
The problem was a cheap sata 3 cable i was using, for some reason it kept coming undone, ive changed it and all seems to be okay now, all installed and formatted now
