Hi all, im at work, wondering if my beta windows 7 will still function, its completely stable and i love it

any clues?

well, its supposed to run out and you have to buy a new copy... but i think you can find some timernukes out there which should allow you to keep running it... not sure on the updates though... what version are you using? 7100? 7600?

My RC is working just perfectly :D I believe next year they will start shutting down after 2 hours, then in march they will shut off entirely.

you know i dont remember, the build is labled on the bottom right, 7600? came out right before RC i believe, its 64 bit version but i dont know off my head

The Beta is junk.

The Release Candidate will start shutting down every two hours in March, and will completely expire in June 1st, 2010

Build 7600 is the Release Candidate.

I really don't think the beta is junk. Anyone that's used both want to clarify any differences? I'm looking for a reason to buy now if it's considerably better.

You're missing my point.

The Beta (Build 7000) was released publicly on January 9, 2009
and expired August 1, 2009.
You can no longer activate the Beta, therefore it is only good for
30 days and you cannot upgrade from it. = Junk

The Release Candidate (Build 7100) was released publicly on May 5, 2009.
If you can find a download of the Release Candidate (RC) you can still activate it since
it won't expire until June 1, 2010, with shutdowns every two hours starting March 1, 2010.
(You can upgrade from this version until it expires in June)

The Release To Manufacturing (Build 7600) was released to manufacturers on July 22, 2009
and was made publicly available to purchase today.

So, when you said "Beta" in your thread title, I thought you meant Beta.

Turns out you meant the RC. :)

He may still mean the beta. I just made the assumption that everyone who had the beta would've jumped on the RC as soon as it was available. Sorry if that assumption was wrong. But still, is there any reason to upgrade at the moment?
