Windows 7 BSOD, Ubuntu installs and runs fine

My buddy ordered a DIY bundle from newegg on black friday, it was a biostar motherboard, 4gb ddr3, 500gb seagate hdd, amd x6 1055t.

He installed everything i guided him through the windows install and the first time around it BSOD upon reboot to complete installation, i had him format using gparted, and try again and this time it bsod after completing installation and the first attempt to start windows and will not go any further. I have had him try dvd media, a usb drive using the windows 7 usb tool still no go. I had him run ubuntu live cd and it worked, i also had him install ubuntu he said it works but he gets a buzzing background noise in his speakers and a beeping noise when he moves the mouse but other than that it hasnt locked up or anything.

After seeing ubuntu installed i had him run memtest he ran it for idk an hr or 2 all passes no errors. Then i had him run seatools which the hard drive passed both short and longtest. When having him try advanced and full erase the drive after a few minutes the computer locked up and was unresponsive.

So this is where i am stuck im leaning toward a hard drive issue even though ubuntu seems to run alright besides the problems mentioned above which could be drivers idk. But the reason i think hdd is because it locked up while attempting to full erase.

Oh and i cant switch parts as he lives in another state so using stuff i have to test is out of the question
Looking for some suggestions

2 questions:

-Is the Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk an original one or downloaded form torrents? (Because if it's downloaded from torrents then it can be that it is either incomplete DVD disk or it contains damaged data)...

-What tool did you use to format HDD? (You must COMPLETELY 100% format the entire HDD before attempting an installation of Windows OS.And when I say 100% I mean EVERYTHING including the BOOT SECTOR of the HDD.I recommend Kill Disk for this.Just be sure when using Kill Disk you must select the entire HDD to format and NOT some of it's partition(s) )...

One more thing. If you have messed with any BIOS options then load OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS,save that and then again go to the BIOS again and just put the CD/DVD-ROM drive to be the first device to boot from and HDD as the second one so you can easily perform the Kill Disk and Windows OS installation operations.

Cheers!

I have had him use gparted, seatools which has a full erase option in it, and a couple other programs off the hirens disc, as i said we tried to run full erase on seatools and it locked up
but gparted manipulated the drive fine. The windows 7 is a digital download and we have tried downloading it about 5 times between 2 versions still the same thing thats trying it both on usb and dvd media. I also tried these downloads and use them to see if they were messed up and they work for me

It has to be a hardware issue. Is there any hardware that can be removed until after windows is installed?

Only thing installed, CPU, Motherboard, hard drive and dvd, hes using onboard vid at the moment and has no expansion cards

this is the motherboard

Ive tried looking over the manual to see if icould have him change some options in the bios or something that might be causing it but am not sure. I also read some reviews of the onboard video causing issues when usb is plugged in idk if thats while actually running windows or even during installs since both his keyboard and mouse are usb
