windows 7 download Question

So i have a macbook pro as my laptop. I was wondering if I could use the windows 7 upgrade to load onto my boot camp (partition). Or, do I have to buy the whole windows 7 installation disk.

The reason is I can get the upgrade for 29 bucks
 
AFAIK you can install a full version of windows from an upgrade CD. when you are installing from the disc, don't input the cd key. then when windows is loaded on the HDD you can activate from there and you're good to go.
 
wait a second,

so if i buy a windows 7 upgrade cd i will be able to install it and use it on a new blank HDD?
cos thats great saves quite a bit of money there :D
 
So, that means I can't use the upgrade for my partition drive? Technically I have an OS and Im just cutting the hard drive in half for the other version.
 
you CAN install FULL version from an UPGRADE disc.

1) Boot from the CD
2) when it asks you to input a cd key, just click next
3) when your windows has installed, activate your copy via phone.

Done & Dusted.

don't know how you know all this stuff at such a young age (16 ftw!)

never installed a OS before and just wondering how do you activate your OS by phone. if its something incredibly simple don't worry about instructions, just tell me that its easy and the box that windows 7 came in has the instructions. :P

Basically if you can't activate via internet you have to use their phone service (make sure you use the toll-free number!) you punch in the numbers to select what your calling for, give them your serial, they give you some other code, which you put into the activation thing on your computer, and your done.

I only know this stuff because i had to. as in my windows install was old, got mega-corrupted and i had to reinstall... it's fairly straightfoward.
 
After you install you can just go to the Control Panel/System and at the bottom just click Change Product key. Add the Key.
