So I get a free version of windows 7 for free from my school. I have to download it from MSDNAA and its 2.1GB. My question is will I be able to burn this to a DVD of some sort and use it as an installation CD on a computer I am planning on building?? In other words, is this a full OS or is it just some kind of upgrade or something?

If you are downloading it most likely its an ISO image and you will need to burn the image to a dvd. As far as whether its a full install or upgrade, only you would know that. Better ask your school what version it is.

Ok after looking at it a little more carefully, I have come to the conclusion that the upgrade label that worried me a bit was referring to shipping and handling. Basically I think it is the full operating system. Where can I find information on how to burn this iso onto a DVD?

Does it say windows 7 upgrade version or retail version? What is the exact name that you see on the page? You would need a burning program installed such as nero, roxio or the something similar that can burn images to dvd.
