Try to track the errors with this:

-Right click My Computer
-Click in Manage
-In the new window click once in Event Viewer
-Expand the Critical (in the small +)
-Post here the errors that you had there so we can give you more info.

The only things in there are this

And that is because im having to hold the power button in to shut down

well, the Event ID: 41 can be from you shutding down wrongly the pc
but can also be from diferent speedstep cpus installed (like dual cores).
You are working in a 64bits environment,
Are the drivers that you installed from the creative titanium sound card the correct one?
In this case for windows 7 X64?
In the page from Creative were you download them was it saying to install
any update from microsfot first or a Service Pack?
Do a research on that area, because i am really sure that if you intalled the correct
driver for you windows and is having problems since you installed the creative sound card so,
creative labs should have there something (probably in FAQs)that you can download
to fix the issue.
Hope that helps.

I had a look at what processes were running and i used msconfig to stop this process "CTXflhlp" it is a none essential helper program installed with creative sound cards and now my pc boots down fine.
