Windows 7 Install Freezes

also check to see if the latest bios update would fix it, but usually if the cpu isnt supported the computer wont boot anything, as far as from what ive experienced.

What if I use that Smart Boot Manager program through a USB drive? Would that get past the Bootmgr is missing error?

The Problem with your mobo at the moment is that the Bios isnt prepared to work with that CPUID that you have and that is allways gonna give troubles
even if you manage to boot the computer.
I think that is not the best thing you can do.
You can try and wait until an new realese of Bios get out in the market but
are you prepared if something goes wrong (i dont know the model of your mobo)
and end up with an dead BIOS? If your mobo has 2 BIOS in that case you should be OK flashing, but what if the realese for that CPU never gets out?
You gonna end up with a lot o money invested in an new Computer with problems isnt it?
I still think that you should try to change (or the mobo or the CPU)
within Tigerdirect and tell them that in the mobo was saying that Core2Duo support and didnt say anything about except Core2Duo E7500.
I am sure they will understand the situation and swop the mobo for you.
Hope that helps

Actually I think Jlcollins is right. If the CPU wasn't supported it wouldn't start at all. Also I called the Tech support for the motherboard last night and he said the same thing. The support list just must not be updated to have that processor but it should be compatible. If it wasn't, he also said it wouldn't start.

He recommended I just replace the motherboard as it just seems screwed up.

I think that what Jlcollins was trying to say is:
Its possible to run an CPU in a mobo without the BIOS being full compatible
with the CPUID of the CPU (have a lot of AMD 462 in the old days with
these kind of problems) but you only can really start seeing problems
is when you stress the link betueen the Bios and CPU (for example
when booting an OS) requires a lot of comunication betueen CPU and BIOS)i think that Jlcollins was trying to say that..
This is what i have seeing for the last 6 years but i also can be wrong
with your case.

Are you overclocked at all? If so, put everything back to stock settings.

I had a similar problem. Mine would freeze at the Windows is expanding files part. Turns out having the cpu overclocked was causing it to freeze.
