Windows 7 - Installing Windows Update to another partition

Hi all,

On my laptop, I have C: which has 56GB of space and D which has 380GB of space and I'm wondering whether Windows Updates replaces old Windows files so I don't have to worry about the updates taking up space or is there anyway that I can make them install to the bigger hard drive so I don't fill up the 56GB of space.

Windows updates will always install to the partition/disc that the OS is installed on, it is modifying files within the OS that are not meant to be moved elsewhere.
