Windows 7 Pro Help!

I bought a laptop and it came with windows 8. It has no CD drive so I transferred all the files from the windows 7 disc to a USB drive. I am setting it up so I can run it from the USB drive but which file do I select to add as my startup file from the USB or am I doing this a horribly wrong way lol?

Create an ISO from the install DVD on another system. Then use rufus to create the bootable usb flash drive.

If you already have Windows 7 ISO file, you can also use Microsoft's tool https://www.microsoft.com/fi-fi/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

If you only have Windows 7 disc (not ISO), create ISO first from disc. Imgburn is good for that.

Transferring files from DVD and making ISO from DVD are totally different things.
