Hey guys...

My local store has a 3 installation pack of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit for $139 right now. I have 3 computers...and I want Windows 7.

Will all my programs work fine with it?

What are the know compatibility issues and do they have a list somewhere? I did some searching and found a few issues people are having in other forums but nothing real solid.

Folding @ Home (SMP and GPU)
FAHMON
Evga Precesion & Evga Voltage tuner
Games
Rocketdock
itunes
Steam
Gimp photo editor
Pinnacle Studio 12
Kepersky Internet Security (buying a 3 pack also)

Im recon you might have problems with drivers being compatibly. or you have have some conflicts. but windows 7 is much more backward compatable that windows Vista so programs should work fine. Best thing to do is make sure your drivers have a Win7 x32bit Version or you might get screwed.

Basically if all your computer are or where originally running Vista then, your fine. Win7 is basically a Service Pack for Vista. Any computer that worked with Vista WILL work with Win 7.

Edit: Same thing for programs on Vista, they will work on Win 7. Even some that dont work on Vista will work on Win 7 as long as you install/run them in Compatibility Mode.

Awesome...thanks for the answer;) I actually read that but I see many people having issues with the upgrade pack. I have two machines running Vista now and my daughter's running XP.

I have also seen people saw that the upgrade pack worked perfect from XP and many others say they can't get it to work.

Might just install one of my Vista copies on the Xp machine and install Windows 7 on my lappy and main rig.

I did a clean install of W7 64 bit, on my dell xps and with vista i had to install all of my drivers over, with 7 i have yet to install a new or updated driver. as for the programs all work fine if not better.

Tanks for all the replies...I am still skeptical actually. I may wait about a year or so.

I will see this week if I wanna take the drive:D

^^ Waiting is most of the time better when it comes to technology/software

Only question is if you have the patience LOL

I agree ScOut. 140$ for three computers. never has it been that cheap...

It has never been that cheap for 3 copies of Windows anything ever!

I am leaving for a year and don't want my wife and daughter to deal with computer problems while I am gone. I guess I will fight the urge and just wait:(

One program I could not get to work at all, no matter what I did is Daemon Tools Lite, it does work with Vista, however.

Bummer huge. :(

I'd hate to be away from my family that long.

3rd time actually:(

14 months, 15 months and now a scheduled 12 months...we'll see if it really is 12 months. Heard that a couple times now:mad:

The computers are my only link while gone...I really have decided to stay with my current setup...super stable and they know the systems and programs:D
