Windows 7 & RAM

I have 2 machines that are both running Windows 7.

Comp 1: Intel Core 2 T7200 2ghz, toshiba satellite (laptop)

Comp 2: Intel Core 2 T7500 2.2ghz, sony vaio (all-in-one)

Both are running, Windows7, 4GB ddr2 ram, 64-bit o/s, all drivers and updates

Toshiba see 4.00GB (3.00 useable)
Sony see 4.00GB

So a super dumb question--why is this? Does it matter that the toshibe sees only 3GB/ I thought that was a 32-bit o/s quirk!?
 
Besides the shared gfx issue, the motherboard/chipset must support more than 4GB of addressing space plus memory remapping in order to fully use 4GB RAM. A 64bit edition is not always the entire solution.

Hmm, so stupid question--how can I check this?

When I ran XP and Vista they both showed 4GB on 64bit!

What specs do you need to know?

Ok...I don't know where to find that on this Toshiba laptop!

also, why did this laptop see 4GB under Vista 64? I never had to change things before?

EDIT:, I went into the BIOS and it's so basic--and has nothing called remapping..etc
