Windows 7 reinstall help

Hi all,

I need some help with reinstalling my OS onto my device.

The device is a Toshiba Satellite laptop which is running Windows 7 Home Premium.

It has a recovery tool built into the boot-loader, which has stopped functioning, with a dedicated partition, and then a 'windows' and a 'data' partition, which I hate. Its also a bit buggy after 3+ years of constant use.

Ideally I would like to format the hard drive and reinstall windows, then do software and drivers from scratch.

No windows disk came with the machine :(

Is it possible to just use a generic windows 7 home premium disk and then use the key on the sticker on the bottom?

Please advise! Many thanks!

Windows discs aren't tied to a specific activation code, they just are the data for the operating system that can be activated by any key that matches that version.

You could also make your own Windows "disc" in the form of a bootable flash drive, but only if you can get your hands on the ISO file. Microsoft seems to have pulled all the downloads for the Windows 7 OS though, making it hard to find and download on your own.
