umm i'm lost here. I looked around and it seems on the computer, the restore option it has, it only restores back to certain points. Or atleast thats what i think. But isn't there a option to completely restore your computer back to the original condition ( in other and exact words it deletes everything from your computer and only re installs windows 7?) I hope windows 7 actually came with a restore back to factory condition option because i'd hate to think that i'm completely screwed if i catch a virus and there is no restore back to factory condition option. Sure the restore points are okay, but they don't always do as good of protection as the option that completely deletes everything off your computer and just reinstalls windows 7

The option to restore your computer back to day 1 (unless you have a restore partition) is only available if you initially made the restore backup image at day 1.
Windows 7 has an image backup facility When I upgraded from XP to W7 earlier this year I downloaded the latest updates, installed my programs and then I took a backup image and saved it to my other Hard Disk. Now if it goes belly up I will just restore the image, update the computer and all is as it was.
If you upgraded a desktop and did not image then it's too late, if you are talking of a laptop purchased with W7 already on it then there may be a restore partition.

I clone my entire hard drive after I install windows 7 and the regular programs I use, so if I got virus and just clone back the drive and don't have to install all those programs, save a lot of time.

D drive will be your recovery partition.
By accessing it (different way on different computer brands), you'll restore your computer to factory settings (day 1).
Recovery set of DVDs serves the very same purpose (just in case, recovery partition is not accessible/corrupted, or you prefer to use DVDs).
