I've got 500GB hard-drive.

I have made:

C drive (100gb)
D drive (400gb)

Will "Drive C" be enough for Windows 7 and all the updates etc.... how much free space do you actually need? Note I only want to make C drive for Windows only.

And the other drive program files and etc....

Some programs will only install to drive c, so I highly suggest you have the operating system and programs on drive c and your personal data on drive D.

I agree.
I use the partition for backup of pictures and so on. also have a 2nd hd. On the other hand, ive tried before pointing to another directory to install the program then one day i don't want it. when i goto uninstall it, it was asking me where i installed it for the removal. Im just saying i just use the default installation. then when ever i uninstall it happens and done. worse i have to do is sometime delete directory or something. At least i know where it was always installed in case of issues or clean up. (like to call it housekeeping).

I know some of the stuff installs to drive C anyways like dll's and such. But I'm assumming if I have program files in my other drive, it only affects drive C really little, and won't take much space since it's installing in the other drive right?

I would install my programs in drive C, but it's really messy by default. In the program files in drive C, all these programs and drivers are just there. Where as when I make program files in my other drive it not messy, I can have folders such as, application program files, game program files etc.... but drive C program files, just the drive C itself is really messy by default. :S

No, I'm talking about the program itself. Most will install to C by default and you can't change it. So why have programs on 2 separate drives?

What program are you talking about? I haven't seen a program yet that doesn't allow you to install in another drive besides: drivers, MSN
