Windows 7 Unneeded files & Such

I just finished on a new build and I placed in a 40GB SSD thinking ot would be enough for just Windows and some drivers. Well, it so happens that those 40GB's rapidly came down to almost 2GB of space left... Now, I have a couple of things that I think should be deleted and moved but I'm not sure how to do it as I'm running into problems with it.

I need these two things to be done as a must:
1. I want to delete some of the Windows Service Files such as Windows Mail and etc. - Every time i go to delete the folders, it says can't delete because i need permission from TrustedInstaller?

2. I have Steam and the games that I install create files in the My Documents folder which adds to the space taken up on the SSD. - How can I move this to another hard drive and prevent the folders from creating in the My Documents folder?

I don't know if its a good idea to keep the 40GB SSD if this is what's going to happen or should I just return it and get something a little bigger? Anyhow, thanks for any help and suggestions.

Ideally you want to leave about 6gb of the ssd unused. So think of it as about 30 -32gb since Windows probly reports around 37gb with nothing installed. Remember that if you leave pagefile on the ssd, it will be using some of its space as well.
I'd suggest using Option 1 found here Setup and Manage SSD .
If you do that, you could then install some startup programs you want on the ssd,[excluding big programs such as some games].
Then change the Windows default install location so that later on the programs that don't give you a choice, will go to hdd instead of c:\. You can always temporarily change it back for something if you need to.

Over time, Option 1 will help keep the size of c:\ in check.

Yeah, the problem is most likely your pagefile is taking up space. It usually uses as many gigs of RAM as you have. Move your pagefile to your HDD. When I had my 32GB SSD, it fit Win7 pro with 13Gb left, and that's with 29GB of actual space. What version of windows are you using?

And for the steam thing, install steam to your HDD. If you have games installed there already, back it up to your HDD and transfer using their system.

Got a Windows 7 PC, with Windows, and Program files on a 30 Gig Drive, and have 15 gigs free space.

I have another Hard Drive with a couple Partitions, 1 Small Partition for the Page File, and the My Documents Folders on the other Partition.

Yeah, I figured out the problem. You guys were right. After installing WinStatDir, there was 20GB's of hibernation and pagefiles. Disabled one and shrunk the other and instantly freed up 20 gigs. I haven't messed around with windows based systems in over a year. That's why I asked. Thanks everyone! :D
