windows 7 wont boot

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5518 laptop with Windows 7. Last night it got shut down using the start button. This morning it wont boot up. It comes on and says "Starting Windows" but never boots up, just goes to a grey screen. Sometimes it will say "Windows loading files", but never boots up. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You

Try running the startup repair from your windows 7 disk then a chkdsk from cm on the disk should take care of it

Sorry but I don't have a recovery disk and can't log in to use safe mode to start recovery. Bought this just before a hip replacement to have during recovery and I don't think I created a recovery disk for Windows.

Most likely you have an error on the hard drive. Find out what brand of drive you have and download and create a hirens boot cd and use the hard disk tool for whatever brand drive you have and run the extended test for it.

unzip it and then burn the image file hirens.bootcd.15.2 to a cd and boot to it.
