Windows 8.1 Issues

I downloaded Windows 8.1 today from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/preview-download, but I am now having issues. For one, I can no longer access my Metro, nor do I see a start bar restored. Once I installed the standalone, i was prompted to restart my computer. Following the restart, I've been left with a hindered OS and a very confused user lol. Does anyone have an explanation for what might have happened?
 
Yes I had. I fixed that issue by uninstalling StartMenu8, which was a third party start button restore for Win8.0. After that my metro has restored, but the start button is still missing. I don't think it patched and whenever I try reinstalling the standalone i receive this message. http://i.imgur.com/c0Lv8zk.png?1
