Windows 8 64BIT need help.

:mad::mad:For some reason my system, 64 bit OS x64 based processor is installing everything at 32 BIT, everything from world of warcraft, to Skype, to even my usb plug in netgear wifi. everything is auto installing to 32 BIT, I only know because I opened my task manager and next to the name in the manager it says (32 bit) I want to know a couple things, one how to do you check for sure if the software is 32 bit if the task manager doesn't tell you, ( Some programs don't have a lable for the bit by their name ) and also if there is a way to change the 32 bit to 64, finally, of course how to make my computer auto install to the correct bit! 64 that is. I know somewhat about computers but not enough for this to make sense to me. I am using a hp envy m6.
 
Some software only comes in 32 bit. When you download software, make you download the 64 bit version if applicable.
The programs that have no label are running as 64 bit. Only 32 bit programs will have a label.
 
So do you think my usb wifi ( it's called netgear ) just only has 32 bit software that it auto installs, and is not a problem with my computer but just the fact that most software comes in 32 bit? also does 32 mean slower? for example things that have auto installed to 32 bit are firefox, Skype, *blizzard launcher for world of warcraft says 32 bit even when I have 32 bit unchecked under options so that doesn't make sense*, hp message service, hp coolsense, hp software framework WMI service. all of these are 32 bit labled in my task manager. Also, I understand now that the downloads if not marked will mean 64, does that also apply to the task manager? about half of the things running don't have any label, and the other half 32 bit. Are the no labeled ones also 64 bit even in task manager?
 
The non labeled programs in task manager are running in 64 bit mode.
There is usually no difference in speed between the two. 64 bit primarily just means the program has access to more memory; this does not always mean it runs faster then the 32 bit version.
There is nothing wrong with having a lot of 32 bit software on a 64 bit OS.
 
But why would firefox and skype auto install to 32? or my wifi usb netgear plug in. Are you saying that the world just uses 32 more and the 64 bits for these programs do not exist?
 
I don't know what you mean by auto install, either you download 32 bit or 64 bit. Most times you don't have a choice.

Firefox is 32 bit only as is skype from what I can tell.

Yes, 32 bit software is more common.
 
Not everything is written in 64-bit code. Some software has 64-bit editions, but for the most part a lot of software is still 32-bit and will continue to be for some time to come.
 
Well by auto install I mean when I bought this netgear wifi usb plug in thing, it auto installed as 32 bits when I ran the cd and plugged it in the usb port, it didn't ask me what I wanted, it just picked 32. Also that a lot of factory settings that were pre installed on the computer before I got it are 32 bit from the touch control to the wifi service to the youcam. all 32 bit, so just making sure that my 64 bit computer is doing what it is supposed to do, for a moment I thought something was wrong with my computer because of the auto install of 32 bit with my netgear wifi thing and the fact some factory settings that seem pretty important are running at 32 bit. thanks for your help btw man. but that is all normal as far as the factory settings and that netgear thing, yes? for a 64 bit OS windows 8.
