Windows 8-Removing Password Login

New laptop with Windows 8. Trying to figure out how to disable the need to enter password every time to login. Went to youtube and followed a couple of the videos and neither procedures have worked. Both say go to run and type in netplwiz. Go to pc settings then click user.

Everything is going smooth. Uncheck the box that it says to uncheck, restart computer and still the computer needs you to login with your password. I follow the exact directions and still it needs a password to login.

Really is Windows 8 this dang difficult to figure something as simple as this? Are the videos on youtube just plain wrong? All I can do is follow what they say. Any of you run across this situation and what is the fix? I'm lost. Thanks!

You can always delete the hash code in which the password is stored using special tool(s) designed for that which you can boot from the CD disk.
Once you have done that, the password will not be there anymore and you will be able to login every time without any password(s).

Well I fixed it but of course it was not how the videos said to do it. Had the screensaver set to 4 minutes so I thought well I will set it to 10 minutes and just deal with the password. On the page to change the screensaver and right next to check how many minutes you want before the screensaver comes on there is little box that ask's you "On Resume,Display Logon Screen"?

It was checked so I unchecked it and that fixed it. Now why is there videos that show you how to do it and have never seen one that deals with this problem by simply going to your screensaver page? This is what's confusing about computers for me. I fixed the problem, myself, and by accident.

Actually, the screensaver requiring you to enter the password and requiring a password to login are 2 different things. Personally, I have mine setup so that a pw is needed to login but no pw is needed to resume from the screensaver. I have it setup the same way on my Win 7 machine. All it takes to resume from the screensaver is moving the mouse or tapping a key.

Do you have your Win 8 machine setup to login with an MS account or a local account? The default is to use an MS account and I think you would want to pw protect that.

Other than the Start screen, Win 8 works very similarly to Win 7. I just ignore the Start screen and use Win 8 as I would Win 7.
