Windows 8 Secure Boot

I am pretty sure some Chinese main board manufacture will use this to market their product say open unlocked main board just like the unlock phones. I won't buy a main board that will lock me out of choices open OS even I have never use linux before.
Don't wanted is one thing, but someone else tell you can't have it is quite another thing. That is one of the reason that I never own an apple computer.!:cool:
 
I have read some articles on this and there is still no worries from what I read cause Windows is recommending this but they did say it is still up to the manufactures, and from what I have read the manufactures will have a option to turn off secure boot.
 
I will guarentee this. By windows recommending this, i will not ever buy a system from them again, Until they change their tune. Even though it is up to the manufacturer, you can be sure that most common OEM suppliers (Dell, Hp, Toshiba, Compaq, etc.) will adopt this. Dell may be the only one that does not, being that they ventured into the Ubuntu market some.

It seems to be a monopolizing move. And wouldnt that make it illegal in the USA?

Im sure that is going to be an issue for them. Although since it is an option for manufacturers they may be able to circumvent the monopoly laws since they are not making it a requirement or anything...
 
well, they are making it "not so mandatory". Basically, I think it will be up to teh manufacturer, and most OEMs run windows stock anyway, thus will probably adopt this. But its not necessary, so probably circumventing the monopoly laws.
(for every law there is a loop hole.)

It is not a monopolizing move because Dell, system76, Zareasons and commodore 64 offer computers other then Windows. M$ is loosing there mind to the take over of open source. currently they are going after Android for patent violations and any company that is using Linux for there business structure because of patent violations. I guess Microsoft patent the sudo command line in 2009 from what I have read?
