Windows Activation

Hello,
I have recently encountered a problem. Automatic updates have been enabled and my Windows XP downloaded SP3, and now Windows is asking me to activate it. I only have 2 days remaining. I've tried some programs such as RemoveWGA or WGANotify, but they all send the same error: Microsoft WGA Notification Tool is not currently active on your system. I'm not sure, I haven't really understood what that means, but from what i could figure out, i need to ask a couple of questions; Is it possible for Notification Tool not to be active on my system and that it still requiers an activation? (Of course it's possible, becouse it's obviosly happening, but what is NT in fact?), and what can I do in order to save my Windows from expiring?
Thanks in advance.

You have to use the product key that came with your Windows disc, or if its a prebuilt computer, there should be a sticker on it somewhere with the product key.

The product key is not an option. I do not have the disc and i have recently reinstalled windows, so there is no product key.

Lets get some information here...

1. Did you add any new hardware to this machine?
2. How did you reinstall windows, what procedure was used?
3. Is this a genuine microsoft operating system and not a pirated version?

I have not added any hardware, and I don't know about the procedure.. I gave the computer to a friend of mine, he does those things so i don't know anything. I'm pretty sure it's not a genuine OS. But I didn't have any problems until automatic updates installed service pack 3 and many other stuff. That's when it started to ask me for activation. It then stopped, and then again started yesterday saying that I only have 3 days left.

It has to be a microsoft certified GENUINE OS if it is not genuine (Pirated) You (the person in possesion of the computer) could get fined a great amount of money and get in HUGE legal trouble. eventhough your friend installed the illegal copy of windows it is your computer and you would get in a great deal of trouble with microsoft and the law.

Contact whoever reinstalled windows and ask if its a bootleg/pirated copy. Most likely it is and the updates that got installed found the pirated key. You will need to buy a genuine windows install cd with its own key.
