Here's the scoop...
I have an Acer Aspire 5100 here, and It had Norton Internet Security 2003 installed on it. The deal was; I was going to uninstall Norton (because the subscripion expired and I'm way too cheap to pay for it
), and put in AVG and Zonealarm free, or somthing else. So then I stated the uninstallation of Norton Inernet Security. All was normal until about half-way throught the installation. A blue screen came up for about half a second and I managed to read the first line said fatal system error, and then the system rebooted. Now I am faced with the problem of a half installed security suite. I go into control panel to uninstall norton, and it's not there, but live update and other components are still there. I try to uninstall them, but it just says that there are other Norton products running that need such and such to function correctly. The system tray icons are also missing. So what can I do to finish the uninstallation of Norton. I've tried putting the CD in and looking for a repair function or somthing so I could repair Norton, and then completly uninstall it, but, All it says is another previous version of Norton Internet Security is intalled. Please uninstall it then resart your computer and reinsert this cd. My only remaining idea is to manually delete all the files from every directory on the computer I can (good luck to me
), and then try and delete every key I can from the registry and get rid of the services it uses? And maby run a registry cleaner? Wow, that would suck. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
