Windows Defender

Hey all,

Somebody I know has Microsoft Security Essentials and also Windows Defender.

When attempting to turn defender on it seems to take a while and then times out.

Has anyone ever encountered this before? I know I haven't.

P.S Can anyone recomend a Tune Up software? I use AVG TuneUp but it's freezing my PC, Any other's out there?

There might be an issue with Defender itself (It's built into Vista and 7) so he may need to reload his computer.
 
Disable windows defender.

1.Open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Defender.

2.Click Tools, and then click Options.

3.Under Administrator options, select or clear the Use Windows Defender check box, and then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
