Windows dual boot with ubuntu

Hi everyone

I am going to show you how to dual boot windows and linux

download this file

Follow the instructions in the installer and then reboot your machine. Once done boot into linux. Your finished.

Now wasn't that easy.......

All this post is a link to the Ubuntu website. Following this you press Desktop across the top followed by windows installer...No idea why its a link when instructions could of done . . . Its not a guide or anything, just a way of installing ubuntu from windows I suppose

Aside from this, I agree with Nanobyte, age shouldn't effect the way people react

Er well most people do know about it, those that don't haven't tried Ubuntu yet.
And btw an official tech guide that is much much longer than this is currently being written.

Yes, that's what that utility is for. You can easily get rid of Ubuntu via the Add/Remove Programs panel in Windows.

I just tried it and it came up with an error saying there is no disk in drive. Please insert disk into drive D:

You used the Wubi utility as listed at the beginning of the thread? Or a CD? All you need is that utility.

I downloaded the utility to my hard drive and raned the program and it came up with that error.

2gig ddr2 400mhz
amd phenom II X2 550 3.1ghz 7mb cache
wd hard drive 500gb

it works now I had to select run as (Administrator) even though my curren windows logon is part of the Administrators group..isn't that weird?

ok it works under name as well, just have to uncheck protect my computer from such and such. So how long does it take to install and will I be able to run it like a dual boot or will I run Ubuntu by opening up the program within Windows?

You will be able to run it as a dual boot.
It all depends on your connection, as it has to download Ubuntu (700 MB) and then it has to install it. Took about an hour on this connection (2.88 Mbps).
