Windows firewall vs Other

Should I use windows firewall or another ? Can you use both? Please advise as of now I'm only using Avast with Windows Firewall and I do use a router.

i use the wndows firewall, i use zonealarm on computers with 2000...DONT use 2 firewalls...

Sorry but you can run two firewalls together. They run fine on my computer. I run Zonealarm and XP firewall. They are not intrusive of one another. I beleive the poster was thinking of virus scanners which should not be run together.

No, it is firewalls. The Windows Firewall automatically disables itself when you install a third party.

And the Windows firewall isnt as good as a 3rd party one, mainly because the Windows only protects the outgoing or incomming (forget which) traffic.
