I'd recommend XP Pro. You are talking about Windows XP right? It's much more stable compared to Home edition and you can do more stuff with Pro like networking and sharing files.
Like Johnnyboy0056 says the links should tell you all you need to know but the link to the microsoft site is best for a quick and simple comparison.
