Windows Install

Need help with XP install. In my BIOS, it reads my harddrive. But when I'm doing the install, it asks where to install XP, it says the HD is unpartitioned with a size of 7811MB (I'm using a 120GB). I've tried two different HD's and it says the same thing with the same size.

The only other distinguishable thing:

7812 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi (MBR)

Please help.

I don't know what tools you have to partition the hard drive but, if you don't have any, then you need to get one. I use an old Windows 98 CD which provides all the old DOS routines and I use fdisk. I'm sure there are plenty of more sophisticated options available. Why not search the internet for partition software?

Once your hard drive is partitioned properly, everything should format, load and work properly.

I hate technology. The first cord I used was the one that came with the new mobo. I take Irish's advice, and find a 7yr. old cord, and now it works. Thanks Irishwhistle.
