I am running Windows Vista and when I tried to run microsoft Word, I got an error message so when I tried to remove Word and re-install it, I got a message saying Windows Installer service could not be accessed. Contacted microsoft and was told Installer was corrupted and would cost 100 buck a roos to repair, can I do it cheaper? Scoured the internet looking for help but nothing has worked thus far

JohnB,

Tried using what you provided and it gives me a message saying the update does nto apply to my system. I am running the 32 bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium, any other ideas? I really dont want to shell out a hundred bucks just to have some troubleshooting company spend 10 minutes on the repair. Would rather do it myself if possible.

You can try doing a system restore back to when you were able to uninstall a program and see if it fixes it. You may be infected as well.

Rediculous! Make sure it is not disabled in MSCONFIG too, I have had that problem before.
